The Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) is a telecommunication protocol used for resolution of network layer addresses into link layer addresses. ARP was defined by RFC 826 in 1982.
ARP is used to convert an IP address to a physical address such as an Ethernet address (also known as a MAC address). It maps 32-bit Internet Protocol address to a MAC address.Once recognized, the server or networking device returns a response containing the required address.
